So, what have you got to say for yourself? Post your comments, reminisces, or just say “hi” to someone you used to know!

Please enjoy the Bulletin Board -- have fun, take that walk down memory lane, get reacquainted and don't say anything about anybody you wouldn't want said about yourself (in public, anyway). Before you send anything, please review it to see whether it is respectful and responsible. The views on the Bulletin Board are those of the person who posted it and not the alumni of Edison or Edison High School as a whole, so we do not allow anonymous postings.

And remember, please, keep it clean!

Robert (Bob) DeSola Greetings Class of 1974:

I doubt if most of you would remember me, in fact, I think it is amazing that you found me. This is Bob DeSola. I sang in Madrigals, played clarinet in band, and played varsity tennis.

I can't believe that 30 years have gone by. I would have enjoyed joining all of you for our 30-year reunion. Unfortunately, that will not be possible as all of my spare time goes to the care of my wife of fourteen year who suffered a brain injury resulting from a cardiac arrest that took place in November of 2002. She is doing well, however, needs 24 hour supervision and special attention. I will be with you in spirit.

After I graduated from Edison, I immediately joined the Army and went to Berlin, Germany where I played sax, clarinet, guitar and sang for the 298th Army band. It was a wonderful experience because I played music all over the world and had the opportunity to meet some great people, i.e., Tito, the president of Yugoslavia at the time. I was also invited to audition for the President's band in 1975.

I went to GoldenWest College upon my return from service to get my degree in business with a second in Music. I also was invited to audition with Star Search upon them hearing a demo I sent them for review. Needless to say, I did not make the cut.

I have lived in Arizona since 1982. I own two homes, one of which I rent out. I have been in the property management business for almost 18 years. Prior to that I was a professional entertainer/musician for 10 years, playing bass guitar in concert with the likes of Frankie Avalon, the Platters, the Bellamy Brothers, and other lesser-knowns. I also did a lot of studio work. I am on a small number of CD's as the sax player. Nowadays, I continue performing, however, only at church.

I am not ashamed to disclose, in fact I am proud to disclose that I am a recovering alcoholic of 17 years. I continue to attend meetings and sponsor several men in the program. Those of you who know "Bill", God Bless You.

I don't remember too many of you from back in the day, however, there are several who still linger from my past. Lisa Jackson - broke my heart back then. The Schiel Family, Leroy, Laurie and Heidi - kids everyone should know; Richard Otey - a magnificent gentleman and teacher who inspired my interest in the Renaissance; Mr. McJilton - who provided me with the tools to pursue music further, and Scott Wojahn of whom I was envious because he improvised his ass off on the sax, as I tried to master what he already mastered.

What matters in my world? My wife, God bless her. She is indeed my world and I love her more than words could describe. It is an honor to be her caregiver! Pet Peeve? There are too many to list. Favorite music? Contemporary Jazz. Favorite Artist? Eric Marionthal, sax extraordinaire whom I briefly studied with at GoldenWest College.

Anyhow, I wish you all well and have a fantastic time at our reunion. Feel free to email me if you feel so inclined, and thanks for the memories?

Sincerely,
Bob DeSola, Class of 1974, Edison High School

We could do what other sites do and make this as long and painful to read as possible, get a bunch of lawyers involved and find the most obscure English words possible, but why?
