So, what have you got to say for yourself? Post your comments, reminisces, or just say “hi” to someone you used to know!

Please enjoy the Bulletin Board -- have fun, take that walk down memory lane, get reacquainted and don't say anything about anybody you wouldn't want said about yourself (in public, anyway). Before you send anything, please review it to see whether it is respectful and responsible. The views on the Bulletin Board are those of the person who posted it and not the alumni of Edison or Edison High School as a whole, so we do not allow anonymous postings.

And remember, please, keep it clean!

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors John Upp: look again!! ;-)
4/12/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors It's great y'all are having fun with the bulletin board! Please feel free to invite any alumni from other years, we welcome all "old" friends from Edison. The Friday event page should be up shortly, and we are still clearing up some questions about the hotel for Saturday, so keep checking back. And John Upp - you'll have to catch me first!
5/14/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors hmmmm, quiet and unassuming... I guess that means you haven't seen my "now" pic on Classmates Madonna! Well, at one point I actually was kind of mouse-like but it's been a while. A few events in my life cured that - coming to terms with losing most of my hair and an abusive boyfriend woke me up to changing some things about my life. I'm now living in the Great Northwest: Portland, Oregon and am married to a wonderful man who was definitely worth waiting for.

I would love to see Athena Johnson, Hal Briscoe, Shelby Nichols, Melanie Sharon, Holly (oops forgot your last name, sorry), Susan Jean and Cindy Coyle come to the reunion. Angie - I already know you are coming and I swear, now that I have a car I am gonna get out to see you before July!

While I was scanning the 1974 photos, I was amazed at how many of your faces I remember from high school even though I've been away from HB for 29 years. Not that I always know WHY I remember you... :-). As far as all the "missing" pics, I will be searching through the other yearbooks (like I did for you, John U) and adding those to the site once I get the Saturday and Sunday pages done, so consider yourselves warned!! And Glenn, I did find one of you so if it doesn't make it to the website the whole class will know why ;-)

I am very glad that you are all enjoying the site, and hope that you are passing the word so we will have a great turn-out for the reunion. And I have to tell you that Glenn is being very modest about his role in this - yes, I designed the pages, but the usability of the site and the fact that it is available at all is his doing. The other committee members have all contributed greatly to finding the venues, collecting information, and searching for our alumni, among other tasks. So I would like them to share the kudos. Of course, then there is John Miller who is keeping us all on track - if anyone deserves applause (or a drink) it would be him! But enough about the site -

Someone please find Mr. Otey and invite him. His kindness, quirky sense of humor, musicality and motorcycle apparently had great influence on me because I married a man just like him!

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors Classmates.com is a commercial site that is NOT associated with this website. However, many of us are registered there and we are using that site as a means for contacting and communicating with our alumni. John M periodically sends out mass emails to keep everyone up to date, and to make contact with those who have recently registered there. Classmates also has a bulletin board where John regularly posts info to direct people here.

This site is also referred to through the Edison High School website (hence the "keep it clean"), but that is just another avenue we are using to find the 700+ of you.

We are completely independent of all other sites, and when you supply information to us - it stays only with us - and only part of the committee has access to all of the info you give us.

Yes, I am registered with Classmates.com, and if you look me up under my high school name, Kathy Dyer, you can find my bio and a fairly recent picture of me. Not that I look like that EVERY day, but it may be the truest depiction of my inner child... hehehe

And yes, clicking on the little envelope by your name will send an email to you, Jerry. It is a "blind" email so cannot be replied to, but actually, all the surf talk has been a nice nudge to some memories, so please don't stop! Those of us who have relocated are really enjoying the pictures you have brought to mind - and that is really what this site is for - to reconnect, whether in person or just on-screen. >^..^<

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors Wow Scott - thanks for finding Mr. Otey... anyone else have a faculty member they would like to see at the reunion?

Let's see who can find Miss Janice Wood - I think she got married in 1976 or so. :-)

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors So what dress code for the guys do you want to relax to?
6/8/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors Well John U - that sounds like the perfect outfit for the Friday & Sunday events.... Seriously tho, the committee voted on Semi-Formal due to the venue, atmosphere and other factors. I am by no means the one who decides, but I am willing to take your thoughts to the next meeting.

No tie, John? How about an ascot? That would be very dashing, as I know you are! ;-)
6/9/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors What a great idea Scott! ;-) I would love to see Joe the Cop come, if someone knows how to contact him - and not only to keep you guys in line!
>^..^<
6/13/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors John U, I would loan you my husband's 3 Stooges tie, but they're wearing Santa hats, so it would be the wrong season. Sorry. >^..^<
6/19/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors I wanted to let you all know that the committee voted to adopt John Upp's dress code: "dress sharply, and have clean fingernails" - no ties required! I will change the links shortly >^..^<
6/24/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors I'd like to remind everyone that time is getting short... so register today! We must let the hotel know our attendance figures in advance.

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors We've had some questions about the memory book and the dvd. Just to clarify: both will be available to all alumni.

The dvd is being produced by a professional company who will be at the Saturday event, and we will put a page up about it after the reunion - the price will be $35. You can also refer to the bulletin board post by John Miller (6/27/04) for what the dvd will consist of.

The memory book will be available on cd; it will consist of photographs of all three events and yearbook images. Also, if you have photos you would like to submit, they could have a place on the cd. The price will be $15 (includes shipping) and any profits above the production costs will go to the Edison High School Foundation.

You also may be interested to know that the Edison High School Foundation is selling "Alumni Bricks" to raise funds. We will have information up soon about that, or you can go to the high school website (www.edisonchargers.com) and click on Alumni for more information.

17 days and counting....did you register yet?
>^..^<
7/2/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors John U, if you want more time for people to sign up, the committee will be happy to grant it to you!

So ladies and gents, fill out your registration form and get that check in the mail ASAP. Call your friends and get them to register too, and we'll see you in just a few weeks!

7/19/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors WOW! I am sitting here in a cyber cafe, getting ready to head north again, and am (almost) speechless! What a fabulous weekend!

I want to thank all of you that attended the events for your enthusiasm and kindness to those you encountered. I saw many old friends, and meet some new ones, and I think many people were surprised at how many others remembered them! Many of our perceptions of being in the background in high school, and unknown by those around us were shattered - well, at least mine were! ;-)

I would like to let you all know that we really appreciated your putting up with the camera action. I know that some were a little uncomfortable with it, but the results in both the dvd and the cd memory book will be well worth your involvement.

Speaking of the memory book, for those of you who took pictures at any of the events - please send me at least some of your images. You may do so either electronically (by email) or send prints or cds to my home. I will be happy to reply to any emails to me with my address if you prefer to handle it that way. Or you may drop them by the home of any of the committee members before our next meeting, August 21. You may also use the address you sent your check to.

I know you may be anxiously anticipating the memory book, so wanted to let you know that it should be available by the end of Autumn. We will have an order form on the site later this summer. Also, some of you mentioned that they would like to see the bulletin board captured on the cd, and I would like to assure you that it will be.

Again, thanks to all of you for making this such a memorable event! It was well worth the three hours I spent on the freeway in LA last week!

8/22/2004

Kat (Kathy Dyer) Majors Hi all!

I want to thank all of you that I encountered during the reunion weekend, you made me feel so welcome! It was great seeing a few of you that I didn't expect (Mark M, Francine) and meeting people that I didn't really know in school, but had a great time with (in particular Ken L).

And especially the committee: John Miller, Chris Trela, Don Foster, Lin Gaar (aka Ambrosio Lopez), Geri (Walker) Hernandez, Barbara (Waldron) Finch, Kathee (Silkowski) Markarian, my friends Aurora (Toussaint-Zannet) Eastman and Karen (Candelaria) Silady. Last, and certainly NOT least, Glenn Byron.

I gotta tell you guys that this group of people are awesome. Words cannot express the bonding that happened between us during the reunion weekend. Granted, this whole process started 4th quarter 2003, so we have been in contact with each other for quite a while, but something clicked when we all got together. The tangible result will be seen on this site, and in future activities!

We had our "follow-up" meeting yesterday, and one of the things we were unanimous on was the future of this website, so you can look forward to it being here for the next 10 years! We have some great ideas for the structure of this site, some of which may take some time to implement. We do value your input, so please take a minute to let us know what you would like to see.

As some of you have requested, we will be building some memorial pages for our alumni that have passed on. When this function is activated, you will be able to post images and contribute narratives. Also, Glenn is working on adding more functionality to the database and we will be able to indicate which activities we were involved in. This will enable us to plan specific group reunions/activities such as a water-polo team get together. An email will be sent to those registered on this site when we are ready to launch this project.

Very shortly you will see some changes as the focus has changed, but we are very excited about the future of our group!

Of course, one of my first priorities is to put together the memory book, and make some of those images available to you for download. Thanks to those of you who have submitted pictures to the committee, and especially Bette who identified everyone in her photos! As the identification process will take some time on the rest of the images, please feel free to submit anything that you haven't yet shared. Also, it appears that a few of the disposable cameras didn't make it back to Kathee, so if you found one, please contact Glenn, me, or any other committee member so we can include those shots.

I am home for a while, and promise to catch up on the emails, so please be patient with me! And Jim C - when is a good time to call?

We could do what other sites do and make this as long and painful to read as possible, get a bunch of lawyers involved and find the most obscure English words possible, but why?

It all comes down to: the only ones who see all of your info are the committee members. And we’re only trying to get you to come party with us. We promise not to sell your home address, your email address, your name or likeness to ANYONE.

Now renting you out for nefarious purposes…. Well, we haven’t gotten any offers yet, but we’ll hold our options open for now. Check back later.
