Hi everyone: Sorry I missed the reunion. It looks as though everyone had a great time. This web site is great, and I like looking at all you old fogies. I don't feel so bad. LOL Maybe the next reunion I will be able to attend, because I really missed not seeing all of my classmates. Funny, after all these years, I still think of my days in High School, and how much fun I had. Boy, have times changed, and now all the restrictions they put on kids now days. We used to have "Smokers Field". Could you imagine that now? Going to school in Flip Flops, and how they are a big no-no here. The list goes on, how things have changed!! In my off hours, I am a walk on Track and Field coach (hurdles, of course) at a high school up here, and I see these changes first hand. When I talk to these kids, and I see what goes on, and I think back of how easy it was at Edison, I thank God I went to school in the 70's. The school administration puts, in my opinion, way too many restrictions on these kids, that I feel will be somewhat detrimental in their future. Sometimes I ask myself, "Why can't it be like when I was in High School"? My wife and I put 3 kids through school, and I can tell you that they didn't have as much fun in High School as my wife and I did. She is an Edison alumni as well. 6 years younger. LOL My years at Edison have been good years, and years that I will never forget.
To give you an update to what's going on with me, we are empty nesters now, as we married off our youngest in November. She married a Marine and lives on the Marine Base at 29 Palms. Our eldest son was discharged from the Marines in July, and is married with 2 kids,a son and a daughter, so yes, we are grandparents, and he is a firefighter now. Our middle child, a son, is living in North Carolina at Fort Bragg where he is in the Army. He just finished school to become fluent in Korean, as he will be doing a 2 year stint over there. He is a Red Beret (special forces unit), and he jumps with the 82 nd Airborne.
So, my wife and I sold our house, and gave away all our furniture, and we are going to 'Hit the Road' as it were. We decided to travel for 2 years, but come back to town every few weeks or so to keep my business going. Maybe in a few years, we will want to settle down and rebuild again, who knows. But until then, We are going to enjoy life for awhile, and do what we want to do. Sounds good to me!!!. We might as well, while we are healthy enough to do it, no?
Well, you all take care, and God Bless, and hope to see you at some future reunion.
